about

The second of these, learned from the High Level Ranters and named after the bridge in Newcastle, was composed by one James Hill of Gateshead. It is often played in B-flat, but we play it in G, like the Ranters, mainly because it's easier that way! "The Black Swan" was learned from Sligo fiddler Seamus McGuire, but is most likely English, and perhaps Northumbrian, too.
