1999— the eve of Y2K.
A year on the brink of a new millennium. Let’s party like it’s 1999.

That was also the year that, with rather less celebration, Michael Miland turned 40. (I, his wife, was Very Seriously Warned not to throw him a party

That was also the year that Laurence Stevenson presented Michael and me with a CD copy of Michael’s “rough tracks” for the album he, Laurence, was producing. He’d labeled it “Forty Years for This??”

Less happily, that was likewise the year that our personal fortunes went seriously downhill. Before long we couldn’t afford to complete the CD production. The project was shelved, and the years passed.

Our Ottawa tribulations had been overwhelming, and we got criminally out of touch with our much-missed friends and fellow folkies. In 2012, to celebrate our return (at last!) to Toronto, we posted the tracks on Dropbox, where folks could access them online.

With Michael’s recent passing, Laurence has kindly agreed to repost his files, this time on BandCamp. He did a masterful job of making recorded Michael sound like natural Michael, for which I’ll forever be grateful.
