The Arms of Morpheus: a continuing series of extended musical pieces intended to help you sleep.
Starting out as pieces inspired by musicians I admired (Brian Eno, Peter Chilvers, Robert Rich, Steven Halpern, Tangerine Dream, etc.) and 'something I heard in my head', I discovered that, as I listened, I had a tendency to be lulled to sleep. Either I was boring myself silly or I was on to something interesting. Eventually, I concluded this was indeed a style of music I genuinely enjoyed being immersed in. From there it was a mere hop to supplying my local community radio station with a series of shows which were broadcast every weekday night from midnight until one o'clock for well over a year.
To this day, I still have my headphones and player beside my bed and more often than not will dial up a random piece from the series and head off contentedly into 'The Arms of Morpheus'. I hope you will too.
